A little confused about the stores     Fri 27th Oct 2006 05:22:07

How is a store different from auctions? Is it just a listing of all your items in one place that a buyer can click onto when looking at one of your auctions? Can non club members search for merchandise through a list of stores? Is there any place to keep fixed priced items seperately from auctions?

Thanks for the help.

bonjour cousin dcm,
it is confusin', ain't it. anyone can view your store. that is why it was created so you could advertise your goods by email to anyone you wanted. and boost your sales. as i know, there ain't no separate place for fixed price items, but maybe one can select that on the menu when doing a search. haven't tried that myself. maybe pascal can integrate it into the scheme of things but don't hold your breath. all these changes take a lot of time to develop. but they do take them under consideration. that is the one thing about delcampe, the evolution of the site is better than ebay or yahoo. and i think more carefully thought out, sometimes. they do have their glitches. but all softwares changes do. i used to be in nuclear medicine years ago and ran a CAT scanner. and when i had my systems engineers do a software change, it could be good or bad. good meant faster scan times, bad meant that damn machine would stop in the middle of a scan and the computer would freeze up. so now the servers do the same. my time was the 70's, imagine how complicated the systems are now as compared with what i had. i just love the new technology in the new CAT scanners. 3D pictures in just a few minutes. saving lives and never having to cut you open to do it. 'fascinating' as spock would say. and later when i worked for the usps, the same kind of computer innovations worked on the optical character readers and bar code sorters. and now it has progressed to package sorting machines, and goes even further. just unbelievable progress in 20+ years. so i don't find it difficult for seb and the team to solve this little problem. take care my beauty. have a great weekend and i hope you are safe from the fires, so tragic for those brave fire fighters lost. my condolences to their families, true heroes for valhalla.

Cajuns, Thank you so much for mentioning the fire fighters. Please keep them in your prayers. And thank you for posting the link about what happened so everyone can read it. Luckily the fires are in a very different direction from where I am(Hemmit is desert way out east) so I don't have to worry too much myself. But I have friends out there though. It is so sandy and rocky I don't really see what there is to burn, but the blaze is going just the same. CAs really had it hard. The last fires in September caused me to have to leave the state for a month the smoke was so heavy(and killing me) and burned from the coast to here at the edge of the mojave desert, the entire width of the mountain range in between We have four seasons out here in California, Fires, floods, earthquakes and riots. :D

Anyway about stores. It is very nice to have everything gr'ouped so nicely as in an online store. The only thing is I think it would be nice if it were used only for fixed price items sort of like ''the other site'''s and the auctions were for limited time periods before you'd have to pay small fee or put them in a store. As the way it is now, I think buyers loose interest thinking it will be up there forever, but if they had to choose between it being cheaper and buying now or buying it in a stoe at a fixed price and paying more, things might sell better. But then again they might not. I'm sure the folks at Dellcampe know best. I guess I don't really see the point of calling it ''a store'' if all the items you have ''in'' it are on auction. Can you imagine a Christie's ''store''? Where things were constantly on auction? But that's just my little pet peeve I suppose.

Anyway thanks for helping me understand. :applause:
