hey cousin alf,
that's might magnamous of you to help her as our friend PN has been compromised by delcampe. he would do the same for her as well. he did it for me and emailed me this morning to remind me in no uncertain terms that the 'brits drool' or somethin' like that. i do miss him on the forum. i liked pickin' on him and his mangy cats. and i'm a leo? and i like dogs? i must be bi-polar. but my advice was true, we do have problems here in america with moneybookers. it is not what it says it is. the american banking system is very funny with credit checks now that many of the banks have been compromised by hackers. this is why PAYPAL is so popular here. of course, there are a lot of scammers always trying to get into your PAYPAL account via scam emails but the wary, alert customer will know not to answer them. and i have had problems with sending cash to the middle east, esp. turkey. lost a payment with a money order, go figure with that one. how they thought they could cash an american money order is beyond me, but they stole it from the mail. and sending euros from the u.s. is almost impossible from most cities. we don't have any banks that have any. this is very true in tampa. the only place that carries any euros is the busch gardens amusement park, but you have to pay to get in there. so you see the enormous problems christine was facing. :crying2:
later gators,
cajunsr.

Hello crab eater,

yes, I know about your funny money transfer ways. And I guess (like you can read on top) that it's not mainly the fault of moneybookers, it will be caused by money restrictions you created in there - and your banks will as well not enjoy another player on market. Generally I don't have anything against PayPal - I only dislike their fees. Especially for cheaper items it's impossible to use, last weeks it happened 3 times, that I had to ADD money to the transactions - and to add means, that the items, cover, work and so on were free and there was still an amount to be added. Caused by postage, weak USD and PayPal fees. In all, it will not kill me, I'm doing this not to earn money, mainly it's just fun - but on the other hand I have to ask myself, if I'm still working correctly or turned a little screwed...
If you keep PayPal that strong, you may wait for some higher fees, they will take what's possible, so seen from my point of view the better idea would be to get some market - kick your banks in there. Your funny MO's and personal cheques will not be any help, because with them our banks are earning "some" money, they take a little fee of 12 - 15 USD each... Sending cash is possible, but talking about safety, first have a look at US mail, I know, that there's no need to tell you about...

 You're wrong twice. Not ebay is any problem - as well as PayPal is one. The only problem is the user complaining - but not searching for any alternative. Ebay said some years ago, that they don't like all the collectors in there (what made them growing) and see themselves instead on the same level as e.g. electronic markets, department stores and so on. That way they changed fee structure. For me there's no need to be in any place where I'm not welcome, there are a lot other places like e.g. Delcampe. Same PayPal - with same intention, you can't use it for "peanuts", so I will not do. No need to camplain, but some need to change something by my own. :pc_user:

If they love you, you should have a look at account papers and 3-month-fees - guess you'll find the reason why... ;)

Hi Guys! :applause: I told my hubby about the mess and I contacted the guy in Egypt and I'm sending him the concealed cash...it's only 5.00 USD...so we'll see what happens. Alf I appreciate your offer, you are a sweetie...I think though for the measely amount the fees and headaches will be not worth it.

It's STILL snowing here and 3 degrees F. Wondering if there's going to be school tomorrow...it's blizzarding with high winds...so I'd hate to think what the windchill is.

Ebay doesn't like Self-Representing Artists which is what I am...I do ACEO cards mainly...those are little collectors cards the size of basemall cards...(2.5x3.5) They certainly do not cater to the art world on there either. I got some killer deals on FDCs on there though...I'm going to have loveliest, fuzziest, cutest, most beautiful collection  that a GIRL stamp collector would want, LMAO

Oh I got mad at Moneybookers...never heard answers from them about my problems...but obviously they read my take this account and shove it email. (Well, I was more polite than that but their site is by no merans user friendly to obtain answers.)

As I sit here freezing my arse off here... :pc_user: Warm Regards,

hi christine,
watchin' the superbowl. my colts is whoopin' them bears. coach dungy was our bucs coach and should have been the superbowl coach long ago, so i'm glad to see him there this year, esp. after last year's tragedy with his son's suicide. his family still lives in tampa. he will have a great reception here after his victory tonight, i hope. your artwork is splendid. i do some myself. cel art, as i love the old cartoons. grew up watching classics like popeye and superman who were animated by the fleischers. and of course looney tunes, and the great hanna barbera team. here is one of my early flintstones. i got a lot better. i have many since then for my relatives for the holidays. once i get my copier fixed, i will do more again.

Your Flinstones are really neat! I'm a Pepe Le Pew fan.

Not watching the Super Bowl here...I know one Colts fan...no Bears...I live in a Steelers / Browns town, the hubby bleeds black n gold. I myself don't know anything about football much. You will laugh, I thought that the yellow line was actually put ON the field and couldn't figure out how they did that so fast...I still haven't lived that down.

It's about time for bed...will be out early digging the car out for work

Warm Regards,

Good Morning-Afternoon,
Well it finally stopped snowing...just frigid cold 7 with really bad winds. Kids still had school but I have the youngest home sick.

Yep, I seen your Colts won.. :applause: ...I was watching a few of the commercials today. I'm sorry I missed those. It was so icky here that the news actually told people to go home from their parties at a specific time because the snow let up some. That rodent that lives south of us though didn't see his shadow the other day so hopefully this will all go away soon.

The exchange sounds great. I might have to try my hand at a racoon!

Will keep me out of online trouble none the less.

I downloaded the demo of Stampmanage....what a slick program...not going to buy it....but I can input some of these covers I bought and the old stamps my daughters were given by a kind person.

The guy in Erie that seems to be the only one with stamp supplies (who is 80 years old) has a jewelers his collection area has been taken over by coins and dolls & candles...(his wife's doing...and I actually found out I know his wife from before they got married...pretty neat) At anyrate he gave me a 2000 Harris catalog which I am getting those numbers from. OK...here's a question...

I see Scott catalog talk and I have this Harris one...and then there's this program...WHO numbers all these stamps? How do they all get these stamps numbered the same? I just was curious...it might sound dumb but I was just wondering.

Well I think it is officially lunchtime...

Hello Chris,

I can add some Michel-No.'s - and there will be french and swiss collectors helping with some others... :o

It was no need to worry about calculating the fees, the only bad one would have been the PayPal fee - in all I guess it would have been less than the stamps you had to put on your letter. ;)

Anyway you should not give up with moneybookers, if you want to buy one or two FDC's from a seller, he always will look like eating a lemon if you tell him that you want to pay by PayPal - caused by their basic fee of 35 Cents for every trade. You made your own experiences on ... that other auction, if these companies don't like collectors and artists, collectors and artists should show them that they don't like them as well. :deal:

:znaika: You are correct when it comes to the auctions. There are a number of sites that I use one is Artbyus...no fees at all...slow but I have sold...there's another from the Uk that one of the artists in my ACEO group is using too...another I sell on only charges end of auction fees...

I admit I gave up on Moneybookers, I'll be careful now to watch who I buy from...Paypal is nice because that's where and how I get paid...AND you know I was thinking you are right on collecting those fees...they collected fees on what transfered in and now they get them again with me transferring out...and to think they raised end of  auction fees again.

Currently I am only participating in my Art groups challenges...which is not the best for business because like even in stamps...my customers will buy 3-5 at a time. (As a matter of fact I need to get one listed. )
We have a craft show in March I need to paint eggs for so I'll be concentrating on that. (Wood Eggs...done in acrylic)

Off to go do that...btw...Auctiva rocks...once again free free free...they host images and schedule...great templates...not sure they can be used here but I love them.

:deal:

Alf...I have to ask...what is a Michel Nos...or don't I want to know? LOL :o

I don't have any problem with a reasoable "end-of-auction-fee", but I stay away from any kind of listing fee. I simply don't want to be forced to calculate, if what I'm doing is still reasonable, it should simply be hobby, not stress. And finally: all those fees finally the buyer will pay, hided in item price or in shipping costs, that's what most people simply forget.
About those Art groups and craft shows I heared from some of the artists of my miniatures, meanwhile it seems to be the only way for them to sell their items online, in auctions they were killed by low price copies. It's a pity, because that way they are loosing any interest in producing really nice things... :crying2:

Michel is the catalogue we're using in here - of course with own numbers what don't have anything to do with Scott numbers... :o

Alf! :o Did you make that? That is incredibly awesome! :applause: Amber will go crazy when I show her that...she's on her way from school now. That is great!

I know we had a bit of a problem with auction people out of China selling EXACT copies of ACEO's...one was a jaguar cat from an artist in Germany the other was a watercolor landscape artist from England. Not sure if they were selling duplicates or a scam of nothing at all. Both artist have since joined our group and Ebay puts a stop to it...until they rejoin under another name and get caught once again.

I LOVE that set...those tongs look like the little metal things that hold the toes of a pair of socks together in a store. Are they?

Of course not. I'd call myself patient and not bad in handling small things - but that would be a little too much. ;)
After getting bored by stamps I tried out postcards and some other things - up to the moment, I saw these miniatures
The original ones are made with japanese clay and european oil colour - using cheap material it's possible to save more than 50%. Some details less and you save 50% of production time... People aren't used to have a second look, so the original artists have a lot problems to sell. That copies will fade out, buyers will find out later - when it's too late. I have a kind of showcase at office, exposed to the sun since nearby two years - and my miniatures still look fine...
These things I ordered for someone, unicates of course - and I would not exclude, that they stole the cookie grabbers from socks shop ;)

Those are absolutely incredible Alf...I'd love to watch somebody make those. I got a bit of Stamp inspiration earlier and I created "The Stamp Collector" ;)

hi chris,
put an FDR stamp in place of eisenhower. he was a stamp collector, a very famous one. and is shown on a monaco semipostal stamp. and with six fingers, an error in design.
