Item description:
This Royal Doulton jug is titled "The Pickwick Papers" or "The White Hart Inn at Southwark". It is one of the Royal Doulton Dickens Relief Series, and it pictures the White Hart Inn with the characters Mr. Pickwick, Sam Weller, the Fat Boy, and Tony Weller moulded in relief around the sides. The jug measures 5 ½" (14cm) high and 8" (20.3cm) from the spout to the handle. On the bottom, there is a registration number: 817035, an impressed number: 8163, and a written number 11. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. With a glass, I find some fine rubs and tiny bumps to the handle and the tip of the spout. The white patches on the handle are underglaze paint skips, not damage.
