Item description:

I started this quilt 30 years ago in Ouagadougou, Burkina Fasso. I was then teaching sewing to young African girls preparing for marriage. During my 2 years stay in Africa, I assembled the more than 1000 pieces. Back to Canada, I hand finished the whole work. It was a great pleasure !
J’ai commencé cette courte-pointe à Ouagadougou en Afrique de l’Ouest il y a 30 ans. J’enseignais alors la couture à des jeunes filles qui se préparaient au mariage. Au cours de mes deux premières années en Afrique, j’ai assemblé plus de 1000 morceaux. De retour au Canada, j’ai piqué à la main l’ensemble de l’ouvrage.
